Late Fall Dodgeball: Week Two.

Thank you to Joy for braving the elements and taking this photo of me and Mike stalking our prey. Hey, we're fun loving guys, but when we hit that court, we're all business. Apparently Joy overheard someone in the crowd saying "You should smile more guys, it's just a game." He's lucky I didn't hear him. I would have spun around and pegged him right between the eyes. I'm just that crazy.

We went 1-1 again tonight, winning our first match and losing our second. Barely. There were some referee issues, but I will just keep my fat yap shut on the subject. I'm still getting over a semi-brutal cold, so my head was spinning a bit and I was sweating profusely. Eh, the sweating was par for the course, I suppose. I made a key catch late in the first match and think I may have earned player of the game honors. I humbly accept.

We're hitting our stride. We've got some ground to make up, but we'll get there. Check the stats here.

Oh, and my record player made the Supersuckers Superfan page.

Good Looking Squad.

Dudes trying to look badass, chicks looking cute. It's all part of our strategy.

Late Fall Dodgeball: Week One.

It's a whole new ballgame.

Alright, so. This is not a video of our game, but it is the gym in which we're playing this time around. As you can see, it's close quarters. That little cubby back there is where the fans have to sit, directly in the line of fire. Needless to say, Joy took one in the skull already.

In other notable changes, they switched the balls on us. We're now using rhino skin balls, which are nuts. They're light, easily affected by the slightest air shifts, hurt less, and I can wing the things at what feels like 85 miles an hour. It's a recipe for unrelenting chaos. But, I was able to drill a chick in the breastbone this week and walk away without the slightest tinge of remorse. That's gotta count for something.

We broke even this week, winning our first match and losing our second in a down-to-the-wire 4-4 tiebreaker. It was disappointing, but the season is young. Stats are here, though they aren't up as of right now. We are the Dodge City Ballers this season.

Another note: these guys in the video must be playing by street rules. We don't grab the balls from the left side.

And yes, that's what she said.

It's Never A Bad Day...

When you get the new Supersuckers record on a limited edition picture disc in the mail a week and a half before it hits stores. Yes, they're truly going to Get It Together.

But you already knew that. Also in my Supersuckers future: 20th Anniversary show in Seattle on the 29th, and a New Year's Eve show at Dante's, which will be "The Big Show," meaning they will do both country and rock sets. And that is really the best of all possible worlds.

Dodgeball Will Return.

A new season starts Monday.

Some of these people will be there, some will not. As a result of unforeseen circumstances, we're having to combine our two teams into one super team. It will mean less playing time for each player, but possibly more wins. And hey, we just want to have fun, right?
